  • Fair Fashion Festival in Utrecht (25 October 2015)
    Jeroen Dagevos, from the PSF, gave a presentation about the Life+ Mermaids program. He outlined the first results, the outcomes and recommendations for customers.

  • Copenhagen Fashion Summit (12 May 2016)

    Danish Fashion Institute joins international Coalition to Stop the Microfiber. Jonas Eder-Hansen, development director of the Danish Fashion Institute, recognizes that summits like the Copenhagen Fashion Summit are an important place for manufacturers and industries to collaborate and address issues like plastic microfibers. “It’s a great honor to have the Danish Fashion Institute aboard with what I hope will be the biggest alliance ever to stop a huge source of ocean pollution,” says Maria Westerbos, founder of Ocean Clean Wash and director of the Plastic Soup Foundation.

  • IUCN World Conservation Congress in Honolulu, Hawaii (6 September 2016)
    The Mermaids program was presented as the research basis for Plastic Soup Foundation’s latest campaign Ocean Clean Wash. The preliminary results were presented by Maria Westerbos and Jeroen Dagevos during the press conference.
  • Workshop “Mitigation of Microplastics Impact Caused by textile washing processes” in CNR ISMAC, Milan (4 November 2016).
    The objectives and the results achieved till now by LIFE13 ENV/IT/001069 MERMAIDS project, funded by the European Commission, will be presented.

  • Workshop “Las industrias textiles y de detergentes se unen para abordar la presencia de microplásticos de nuestros tejidos en el mar” in LEITAT, Barcelona (1 December 2016).
    The objectives and the results achieved till now by LIFE13 ENV/IT/001069 MERMAIDS project, funded by the European Commission, will be presented.

  • EU Conference on Plastics in RDM Rotterdam, The Netherlands (8-9 December 2016).
    The EU Conference in Rotterdam will discuss cross-cutting subjects covering the entire plastics value chain. The outcomes will be incorporated in the EU Strategy on Plastics. The Mermaids project will be part of a table session, as well as microplastics in cosmetics.

  • Mermaids Life+ Closing Event in Amsterdam, The Netherlands (16 December 2016).
    The Mermaids project comes to an end in December. Therefore, the results will be presented by all the partners. You can register here, and the program will be available soon.
